Kyle so often joked around; he always made you smile, laugh and feel good. He loved everyone around him so much that you could not help but love him just as much back. Even when times were rough Kyle still had a strong head on his shoulders and loved everyone for their unique qualities, never judging for faults.

Kyle grew up in Fraser, Michigan just like any other kid with a family that loved and supported him. His favorite sport was basketball and would play pick up with anyone, anytime, anywhere. He will always be remembered by his distinct red hair which prompted the nickname “Rudy” as a toddler that followed him throughout his 18 years.

Kyle became our guardian angel on October 1, 2007.

Prior to his death, Port Huron, Michigan became his sober home for nearly 3 months and we, those closest to him, had never seen him grow, learn and mature so quickly than in those 3 months. Situations were tough and a struggle for all involved but ultimately the battle was lost because he is now watching over us feeling better than ever.

The best advice our family can offer to other families struggling with similar addiction issues is this: No matter how much you want to help the situation ultimately the decision resides in the addict. The addict has to want help - want to help themselves. Do not blame others; only your loved one decides what they wish to do. It has taken us a long time to accept this. You cannot expect your loved one to live by your standards; they will only live by their own.

Kyle had numerous dreams: he aspired to attend college, create a successful career, start a family, and celebrate life one day at a time.
