There are many ways to treat substance abuse and addiction, from traditional to alternative, to complementary, to medication-assisted. More and more programs are focusing on a holistic approach that encompasses a variety of methods and tools to help achieve, maintain, and enhance healing and recovery. Yoga can actually potentiate this healing. Yoga can be beneficial throughout recovery to help prevent relapse, reduce withdrawal symptoms and drug cravings, and provide a healthy outlet to cope with potential triggers and daily life stressors. In this workshop you will hear from American Board-certified psychiatrist Dr. Debra Hollander about the brain science behind yoga and how it can aid recovery on a physiological basis. You will also hear from Jessica Rosen, LAADC, E-RYT: psychologist and owner of the yoga studio One Down Dog, about her experience working with clients in active addiction.
