Each year, FAN is invited to present to thousands of people at conferences, community events, and businesses. An integral part of FAN's mission is to remove the stigma associated with addiction through education, and to inform the community about the growing problem of prescription painkiller abuse among all ages, as well as the increased use of heroin by our young people.
We continue to educate young adults, parents, school personnel, law enforcement, judges, and--most importantly--doctors and other health care professionals about the dangers of prescription drug abuse, especially painkillers. FAN currently has 22 chapters throughout the state of Michigan, and launched our first out-of-state chapter in Madison, North Carolina, in 2017. We offer more than 34 monthly support meetings.
